Volunteer center

One of the areas of our organization's activity is volunteering. Volunteers are people who are ready to sacrifice their own time, share their professionalism, knowledge, reputation and connections for the benefit of society, without material compensation for their work.

Almost every undertaking cannot be done without the help of volunteers – sincere, kind, proactive, responsive people. Volunteers of the “wise age” provide support to elderly people within the framework of the “Equal to equal” direction, give communication and valuable support, provide all possible assistance.

Volunteers of different ages participate in creative workshops, volunteer events, provide information by phone, help with the delivery of food packages and the organization of events/lectures. With the support of volunteers, minor repairs of household items are carried out, and assistance is provided in the local area of lonely elderly people.

Volunteers of our center gain new acquaintances and communication, support, as well as the opportunity for self-realization, feel their importance and contribution in the development of our region and Community

Here are just a few ways you can show your support:
  • Zparticipation in the center’s events, community and cultural work: assistance in organizing lectures, creative workshops;
  • Zproviding consultations on various aspects of a healthy lifestyle;
  • Zhousehold assistance to clients – minor repairs of plumbing, furniture, household appliances, umbrellas, irons, etc.;
  • Zprovision of free initial legal advice;
  • Zassisting project coordinators in providing targeted assistance;
  • Zparticipation in the distribution of charitable aid;
  • Zproduction of knitted goods, handicrafts, handmade cards;
  • Zaccompanying elderly people with limited mobility (running errands, communicating on the phone, congratulating on holidays)

You can also become a volunteer,be useful to society as a whole!

✨ A Seder that unites ✨ Yesterday, a special online event was held for seniors with limited mobility and those celebrating the holiday alone. 🤍 In a warm and supportive atmosphere, we went through the main stages of the Seder together and learned about the symbols and traditions of Passover. 🍷📖 Despite the distance, we managed to create a feeling of true celebration and unity. 💙 Our goal is not just to hold a Seder, but to give each participant a sense of care, inclusion, and community. In keeping with our tradition, we do everything we can to ensure that no one is left alone on this day. 🤝 The event was hosted by the Volunteer Center RVC of Chisinau, Transnistria, and Balti. We went through all the stages together, participated in an interactive quiz, and discovered the most important things—understanding and memory. And that means our "afikoman" has been found. 🕯 We remember these events not for joy, but for remembrance and reflection. Spring is here, but there's no warmth... 🌬️ Due to the economic situation, the heating has already been turned off, and apartments are cold 🏠❄️Despite the calendar saying it's spring, it's still chilly in our region. This is especially hard for the elderly, for whom warmth is not only a matter of comfort but also a matter of health. Our volunteers are not standing idle—craftswomen are preparing yarn and knitting warm socks and footsies for those in need 🧶🧦 That's why the work of our craftswomen is so important. Each pair of knitted socks is not just a thing, but an expression of care, attention, and human compassion. Hesed volunteers put the warmth of their hands and hearts into their work to warm those who are going through a particularly difficult time. It's more than just things - it's warmth, care, and support ❤️ For more information, see https://vox.jct.md/teplo-sozdannoe-rukami-i-serdtsem JDC #RVC Volunteer Center RVC

Matzah is one of the main symbols of the Passover holiday and an important part of Jewish tradition. It recalls the events of the Exodus from Egypt, when the Jews left slavery in a hurry and did not have time to let the dough rise. This is why matzah is unleavened bread, a symbol of freedom, faith, and trust in the Almighty. During Passover, matzah holds a special place on the holiday table, uniting families and generations, helping to maintain a connection with the history and traditions of the people. Today, matzah is being actively distributed to members of Jewish communities in all cities and districts of Transnistria. Hesed staff, with the support of volunteers, are doing everything possible to ensure that every person in our care receives matzah for the holiday. Our region is currently experiencing not only a difficult economic situation but also a certain isolation. Therefore, it is especially important for our beneficiaries to feel remembered and not forgotten. Even a small pack of matzah is not just a product, but a sign of attention, care, and human warmth. 🫶For most, this isn't just a product, but an important part of the holiday and a symbol of belonging to tradition. 💬Irina Nikolaevna Soiferman shares: "Thank you so much for receiving the matzah. It's very important to us! A huge thank you to Hesed for its support. Happy upcoming holiday to everyone!" 💬Yan Galperin notes: "This is a miracle in the current situation. Thank you to everyone who helped." Such words of gratitude are the best appreciation for the shared work that combines care, attention, and the preservation of traditions. On the eve of Passover, it is especially important to feel the support, unity, and warmth of the community. https://vox.jct.md/matsa-simvol-svobodi-veri-i-pamyati-ob-iskhode-iz-egipta #RVC JDC

🕯 The whole community is getting ready for Shabbat! Today, our volunteers baked fragrant challahs, observing all the traditions – they cut off a piece of dough, recited a prayer, and with special reverence said, "This is challah." The challahs get better every time – their experience grows, their hands become more confident, and the dough becomes more manageable. 😊 Special thanks to Alik Aleksandrovich Vorobyov for the advice on adding starch – the challahs turned out especially soft and airy! Alik Aleksandrovich not only receives challahs for Shabbat, but also helps with delivery in his area. This is how, together and with love, we prepare for Shabbat: 🤍 some help with groceries, 🤍 some deliver challahs to those who are difficult to leave the house, 🤍 some offer kind words of support. Every bite contains the warmth of hands and the care of our entire community. Shabbat shalom! ✨ For more information about the event, see 👉https://vox.jct.md/gotovimsya-k-shabbatu-vsey-obshchinoy #RVC #JDC Volunteer Center RVC

🥖✨ Let's learn how to weave challah together! Hesed held a challah-weaving workshop for teenagers from AJT. For many of the kids, this was their first experience working with dough—and it turned out to be very interesting! The kids learned: 👩‍🍳 what challah dough should be like 👩‍🍳 how to determine the right consistency 👩‍🍳 how to knead the dough to the right consistency. The most difficult, but also most exciting part was weaving the challah. Each participant prepared four strands of dough, which, under the careful guidance of volunteers, produced beautiful and neat challahs. 🙌 When the baked goods went into the oven, the aroma of fresh bread filled the entire Hesed and even extended beyond its walls. 🤍 Now, having gained practical experience, the children will be able to assist volunteers in baking challahs for our wards, participating in a kind and important cause. Thank you to our volunteers for passing on their knowledge and traditions, and to the teenagers for their desire to help. 💙✨ For more information, see 👉 https://vox.jct.md/master-klass-po-pleteniyu-khal-dlya-podrostkov-ajt Volunteer Center RVC #rvc #jdc

🌸 Spring has arrived at Hesed! With the first snowdrops, we held a master class for the Martisor holiday. Our elderly participants enjoyed creating red and white symbols of spring, reminiscing about legends, and sharing memories. Such gatherings not only help us create, but also connect, support each other, and preserve our traditions. Red and white decorations are worn throughout March and then hung on a fruit tree—with hope for a good year. 💛 Thank you to the volunteers for their creativity! 🎭 For Purim, our community held a kind campaign, "Bring Joy!"! 💝 Seniors responded warmly and brought sweet gifts for children from large families: candies, cookies, marshmallows, gingerbread, tea, and rolls. 🎁 Volunteers created large holiday packages that each family received. Sweets were also given to children attending events at Hesed as part of the AJT children's club. ✨ Purim is a holiday of joy, generosity, and the tradition of mishloach manot. 🤝 The connection between generations and caring for each other make our community truly strong! 🥖✨ Second bake – even more warmth! As part of the "Food Security" project, our volunteers have already baked over 50 challahs 🙌 The fragrant pastries have delighted their clients in the following cities: 📍 Bender 📍 Rybnitsa 📍 Tiraspol. Our wonderful volunteers are ordinary women who have never baked on such a large scale or braided challahs before. But with each passing day, they gain more and more confidence 💪 and perfect their traditional braiding technique. After baking, the challah was passed on to the older generation of our community. 🤍 For the elderly, this is more than just Shabbat bread—it's a sign of attention, care, and a reminder that they are not alone. 🕯️ Thank you to our volunteers for the warmth of their hands and hearts. 💙 The project continues—and together we make the world a little kinder. ✨ If you feel the strength and desire, join us, let's do good deeds together! ✨ In February, the online project "Literary Living Room" brought together over 100 participants from all over Transnistria. Guests included Larisa Viktorovna Ladyka, author of landscape, love, and philosophical poetry 📖, and Sergei Nikolaevich Galushkin, winner of the Grushinsky Festival, who performed his songs with a guitar 🎸 As per tradition, our volunteer Valery Kupershmidt introduced the guests. ✨ We held an online meeting dedicated to February 23rd—Defender of the Fatherland Day. Participants reminisced about the holiday's history, discussed its meaning throughout the years, and how its sound has changed over time. 🎶 War songs—the very ones that supported, inspired, and helped us believe in the best—took a special place. Many sang along to familiar melodies and shared personal memories. 📖 Touching poems about courage, loyalty, and love for the Motherland were recited. 💬 Sincere words of gratitude and congratulations were addressed to the men. The Tiraspol Hesed hosted a warm event dedicated to Tu B'Shvat, the Jewish "New Year of the Trees." Those gathered discussed the history of Rosh Hashanah La'Ilanot, its symbols, and traditions. Participants discussed the significance of the seven fruits of the Land of Israel—shivat aminim (wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates), which are mentioned in the Torah as special products of the Holy Land and have a deep connection to Jewish culture. Throughout the evening, participants drew parallels between trees and humans, discussing spiritual growth, the strength of roots, the ability to bear fruit, and the importance of caring for others. A special symbol of mutual care and compassion was the challah baked by volunteers from the RVC community's Volunteer Center as part of the new Food Security project. All participants also received dried fruit packages, carefully dried by our volunteers. These challahs and dried fruits became not only part of the festive table but also an expression of attention, support, and community warmth and care. 🌳🌴Today, as part of the "Caring Connection" project, an online event dedicated to the holiday of Tu B'Shvat was held. Elderly participants from both banks of the Dniester River discussed the traditions and symbols of the holiday, shared childhood memories, and personal stories. 🫶For many, this meeting was a return to the values once passed down by their mothers—a love of Jewish traditions, respect for roots, and a sense of community. 🫶Events like these don't just unite; they create a living connection between people, cities, and generations. 🌿 For more information about the event, see 👉 https://vox.jct.md/tu-bi-shvat-kotoriy-soedinil-berega-i-serdtsa #CaringConnection #TuBiShvat #JewishCommunity Volunteer Center RVC

🕯️ This week, online events were held for the older generation of our community to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day. The "Documents and Testimonies of the Era" meeting featured a discussion of authentic facts and documents. Volunteer Center RVC volunteers also prepared a touching event, discussing the fates of people, those who managed to survive, and the Righteous Among the Nations, who preserved their humanity in the darkest times. The meeting took place on the eve of Shabbat, and, as is tradition, the volunteers addressed the weekly Torah portion, Beshalach—a chapter about the journey from slavery to freedom, about taking a step forward even when it's scary. This theme resonated deeply with the lives of our participants. These meetings became not only a day of remembrance but also a moment of support, warmth, and connection with the community. We remember. We are here. And we are grateful for every story you preserve. 🕯️ More information about the events 👉https://vox.jct.md/pamyat-kotoraya-prikhodit-v-dom

📖 In 2025, we launched the "Faces of Our Community" project. This project is a series of living stories about members of our Jewish community. About those who lived long lives, preserved traditions ✡️, endured trials, served people, raised children, prayed, worked, and loved ❤️. These are not official biographies or dry chronicles. These are personal stories—about childhood and family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦, about war and peace, about faith and doubts, about synagogue and home 🕍, about joys and losses. About how Jewish life continued—despite everything. 🖼️📝 We carefully collect memories, words, intonations, photographs—to preserve living human memory, pass it on, and remind: community is not an abstract concept. These are real faces, destinies, voices. 🤝 These stories are important not only as testaments to the past. They inspire, unite, and help us feel a connection between generations. They speak of the roots that make up the present, and of the people without whom there would be no future 🌱. 💬 We believe: as long as these voices are heard, the community is alive. And we invite you to meet those who have become its face. 💙 This project was born from a simple and very human desire—to hear. To hear those who lived long lives, witnessed loss and joy, built, preserved, cared, and continued to move forward, even when things were difficult. 🕊️ The stories of the heroes of the "Faces of Our Community" project are not about big dates and achievements. They are about choice, loyalty, memory, and inner strength. About people who didn't always speak for themselves, but always did more than their share. 🎙️ We carefully record these voices, understanding that they are the living history of the community. As long as these words are spoken, as long as names and faces are preserved, the connection between generations remains unbroken. ✨ Let these stories become a point of support, a reminder of roots, and a quiet source of inspiration—for those who read today and for those who discover them tomorrow. 🔗 You can learn more about the stories of our fellow tribesmen at the link 👉 https://vox.jct.md/litsa-nashey-obshchini-209 Volunteer Center RVC

Today, a memorial service was held at the monument to the victims of fascism, dedicated to International Holocaust Remembrance Day. This date is observed worldwide in memory of the millions of innocent Jewish men, women, and children murdered, as well as all victims of Nazism during World War II. The memorial ceremony was attended by the first President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Igor Nikolaevich Smirnov, the Chairman of the Government of the PMR, the Chairman of the Supreme Council, the Head of the State Administration of Tiraspol and Dnestrovsk, as well as leaders and representatives of state authorities and administrative bodies. Representatives of youth and public associations of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and members of the Jewish community of Tiraspol also attended. Those gathered honored the memory of the victims of the tragedy with a moment of silence and then laid flowers and memorial stones at the foot of the monument—a symbol of respect and eternal memory for those who did not return from the horrors of the Holocaust. This rally demonstrated that the memory of tragic historical events must not be lost, and that it is our shared responsibility to preserve it for future generations, so that the evil of the Holocaust, which shook humanity, will never be repeated.
